BSX DIGITAL presents the original motion picture soundtrack to DEADFALL,
featuring music composed and conducted by the legendary John Barry (GOLDFINGER,
BORN FREE, DANCES WITH WOLVES) for the 1968 thriller directed by Bryan
Forbes, written by Forbes and Desmond Cory and starring Michael Caine, Giovanna
Ralli, Vladek Sheybal, David Buck, Eric Portman and Nanette Newman.
Released in 1968, DEADFALL follows cat burglar Henry Clarke (Caine) and his
accomplices, Richard (Portman) and Fe (Ralli) Moreau as they prepare to steal diamonds
from the chateau of a millionaire. As the story unfolds, Henry learns that his partners in
crime aren’t the most emotionally stable people.

The music for the film was composed by John Barry, continuing a collaboration with
director Bryan Forbes that included films such as THE L-SHAPED ROOM, SEANCE
ON A WET AFTERNOON, KING RAT, THE WRONG BOX and THE WHISPERERS,
all projects that provided Barry with unique scoring opportunities. DEADFALL would be
no different, even offering one of the rare occasions where the composer appeared on
screen, conducting an orchestra.

The score for DEADFALL includes the lengthy Romance For Guitar And Orchestra,
featuring soloist Renata Tarrago and the song ‘My Love Has Two Faces’, featuring the
vocals of the legendary Shirley Bassey.

John Barry is one of the most well-known composers of soundtrack music and his
career carried him through a multitude of music genres and styles. Barry is best-known
in connection with his work on the James Bond pictures but he was also the winner of
five Academy Awards for his work on BORN FREE, THE LION IN WINTER, OUT OF
AFRICA and DANCES WITH WOLVES. Additionally, from 1957 until the early 1960's as
leader of the John Barry Seven, Barry was one of the best-known figures in popular
music and early rock & roll in England.

Originally released on vinyl in 1968 and later on compact disc in 1997, BSX Digital is
excited to bring the score back to the marketplace. The music has been newly mastered
by James Nelson at Digital Outland and retains the liner notes by director Bryan Forbes.
