This program was produced to celebrate the opening of the resort in Las Vegas. In 1994 Las Vegas was in the height of catering to families and the film definitely makes that clear. The cast chews through the scenery at times and Steve Wynn makes several appearances so he can be a member of SAG. It is regretful that the Treasure Island hotel of '94 is no more today.

ABOUT THE COMPOSER

Christopher L. Stone is an American composer, musician, and occasional actor known for his precocious start as a child prodigy and his pioneering contributions to film, television, and video game music. Born on January 26, 1952, in Santa Monica, California, he became the youngest member of ASCAP in 1965 after composing scores for three motion pictures by the age of 12. Stone later studied with notable teachers and went on to create the world's first orchestral score for a video game, Dragon's Lair, a landmark work preserved in the Smithsonian Institution.

His career spans composing, orchestrating, and conducting for a wide range of projects, including films such as Phantasm IV: Oblivion, short films like Locomotion, and video games including Dragon's Lair 3D: Return to the Lair. Stone has received acclaim through nominations and wins for Emmy Awards, Clio Awards, and Cable ACE Awards for his work in film, television, and video games. He has also contributed as an actor and voice performer in select projects while founding Audio Impressions, reflecting his ongoing influence in the music industry.

Christopher L. Stone demonstrated extraordinary musical talent from childhood, shaped by his family's deep involvement in the Los Angeles film industry. By age 12, he had composed scores for three motion pictures, showcasing his precocious compositional skills. In 1965, Stone became the youngest member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) at the age of 12, marking an unprecedented early entry into the professional music community. This achievement underscored his status as a musical prodigy and reflected his rapid rise within the industry despite his youth. Stone pursued advanced formal musical training in Europe after demonstrating prodigious talent as a child composer. He studied composition in Paris with Nadia Boulanger, the renowned pedagogue whose students included numerous prominent 20th-century composers.

Stone transitioned into professional work in the mid-1970s, focusing on synthesizer programming and electronic sound design for film. He served as synth programmer for composer Jerry Goldsmith, contributing to sophisticated musical sound design techniques during that period. His expertise led to contributions in electronic orchestral score realization, where he helped integrate emerging technologies into traditional scoring.

Stone's state-of-the-art studio was used for sound design on several notable films of the era, including Logan's Run (1976), Pete's Dragon (1977), Battlestar Galactica (1978), Big Wednesday (1978), and An American Tail (1986). He created distinctive electronic elements such as the Cylon voices in Battlestar Galactica. He advanced electronic orchestral techniques by designing the original library for the E-mu Emulator sampler, which pioneered realistic sampled orchestral instrumentation for music production. In the mid-1980s, Stone took on roles in film music departments, including as additional electronic orchestrator on From Beyond (1986)

Stone has made enduring contributions to the horror genre through his extensive involvement in the Phantasm film series. He created the distinctive and unsettling voices for the Lurkers—the series' evil dwarf creatures—in the original Phantasm (1979) by processing his own voice through a Vocoder, an experimental electronic technique that produced their characteristic eerie quality, and he continued providing these voices in the sequels. Stone composed the scores for Phantasm II (1988), Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead (1994), Phantasm IV: Oblivion (1998), and Phantasm: Ravager (2016), delivering atmospheric music that enhanced the franchise's surreal horror elements across four decades.

01.
