Finishing high school in Boston, he went on to study composition with Nicholas Flagello and Stephen Sondheim in New York. There, he began to explore many compositional styles — for theatrical stage, chamber, rock, and underscoring short films — before coming to the attention of singer Neil Diamond.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"s1\"\u003eAfter collaborating on several hit albums, Diamond asked Holdridge to assist in creating the Grammy Award-winning score for JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL (1973).
